Milehah, Sharjah | Jul 24 - Aug 24, 2026
Investor
A slight decline in crop vigor increases localized yield risk, but overall average values suggest moderate repayment capacity. Uneven field performance may lead to minor revenue volatility, warranting close monitoring of credit exposure.
Insurer
The downward trend in vegetation moisture slightly elevates the risk of a minor drought-related claim. High spatial variability suggests localized damage rather than widespread total crop failure, keeping overall claim likelihood moderate.
Government
Variable crop performance highlights the need for targeted fertilizer or irrigation subsidies to support struggling zones. Monitoring these trends helps track regional food security and promotes climate-smart water management practices.
Researcher
NDVI and NDMI trends show a negative delta of -0.0521, indicating a decline in chlorophyll absorption and canopy water content. LAI values peaking at 1.9098 but dropping to 0.0215 confirm high spatial heterogeneity in biomass accumulation across the field.
Farmer
The grower should scout the low-vigor areas identified with low canopy density to check for localized pest pressure or nutrient deficiencies. Targeted irrigation should be applied in the next 2-3 days to stabilize the declining vegetation moisture levels if water resources are available.

Milehah, Sharjah | July 15 - August 24, 2026
Investor
Repayment risk remains low to moderate, as the field's average performance of 0.40 indicates viable yield potential despite recent dry spells. Financial exposure is concentrated in the dry zones (index ~0.17); localized intervention is recommended to protect the overall return on investment.
Insurer
Claim likelihood is currently low, but the downward trend (Δ=-0.0832) warrants close monitoring of late-season drought stress. No immediate premium adjustments are required, though persistent moisture deficits could elevate risk profiles by harvest time.
Government
This field contributes steadily to regional food security, though it highlights the growing need for climate-resilient water infrastructure subsidies. Data supports targeted environmental subsidies for precision irrigation to help farmers mitigate late-summer dry spells.
Researcher
NDVI and NDMI show a combined downward trend (Δ=-0.0832), signaling a reduction in chlorophyll activity and canopy water content. LAI values are highly polarized, with localized pockets maintaining a high index of 1.55 while stressed zones drop to 0.17, indicating severe spatial variability.
Farmer
Apply targeted irrigation within the next 2-3 days to the driest parts of the field to halt the recent moisture decline. Scout the low-performing zones showing index values around 0.17 for signs of pest infestations or soil compaction.

AlmaMaps Field update
Milehah, Sharjah | July 24 - August 24, 2026
Investor
Repayment risk is currently moderate due to high field variability, which could lead to uneven yields and localized financial exposure. Targeted microcredit interventions for localized irrigation or fertilizer could stabilize the crop and secure ROI.
Insurer
The wide performance gap increases the likelihood of localized claims, though the overall field average remains stable. Monitoring spatial variability is recommended before adjusting premium rates or processing early stress claims.
Government
Uneven crop performance highlights the need for targeted subsidy programs focusing on precision irrigation and soil health management. Promoting climate-resilient practices in this region will help stabilize local food security against late-season dry spells.
Researcher
NDVI and NDMI show high spatial heterogeneity, with maximum values reaching 0.7106 while minimums drop to -0.1104, indicating severe canopy fragmentation. The slight negative trend in LSWI and LAI suggests a gradual depletion of soil moisture and canopy density over the 30-day window.
Farmer
Scout the low-vigor areas where index values drop below 0.0 to check for signs of pest damage or severe water deficit. Apply targeted irrigation or nitrogen fertilizer to the lagging zones to help even out the canopy before harvest.

Investor
A slight downward trend in crop vigor increases the risk of localized yield reduction, potentially impacting the farmer's net income and microcredit repayment capacity. Overall field average remains stable, suggesting that the financial exposure is manageable if targeted interventions are applied to the lagging zones.
Insurer
The localized drop in NDMI and NDVI indicates a moderate increase in crop stress, slightly raising the probability of a partial yield loss claim. Monitoring is recommended as the high variability in canopy density suggests uneven risk distribution across the insured acreage.
Government
Uneven crop performance highlights the need for targeted agricultural extension services and potential subsidy support for localized irrigation or fertilizer inputs. Promoting climate-smart water management practices in this region could help mitigate the observed mid-summer moisture decline.
Researcher
NDVI and NDMI values show a negative trend (Δ = -0.0832) over the 34-day window, indicating a progressive reduction in chlorophyll absorption and canopy water content. LAI values exhibit extreme spatial heterogeneity (range: 0.05 to 1.56), suggesting significant soil quality variations or uneven water distribution across the plot.
Farmer
Scout the low-vigor areas of the field to check for signs of pest damage or nutrient deficiencies, especially where the canopy looks thin. If feasible, apply targeted irrigation or adjust fertilizer application in the lagging zones to help the crops recover before harvest.

Investor
Stagnant canopy development at this stage increases the risk of crop failure, elevating the credit default risk for this microloan portfolio. Close financial monitoring is recommended as low vegetative performance may negatively impact the expected ROI.
Insurer
Extremely low LAI indicates an elevated probability of a yield shortfall claim if this represents the peak vegetative phase. Recommend verifying the actual planting date to assess whether this is delayed emergence or an active loss event.
Government
Low biomass accumulation in this tract could signal localized food security challenges if this trend is widespread across the district. This field is a prime candidate for targeted agricultural extension support and potential climate-resilience subsidy intervention.
Researcher
LAI is static at 0.685 (Δ=0), indicating minimal light interception and extremely low photosynthetic capacity. The lack of canopy expansion suggests severe environmental stressors, such as moisture deficit or nutrient limitation, halting vegetative progress.
Farmer
Scout the field immediately to check for soil compaction, nutrient deficiencies, or pest damage that might be halting leaf development. Consider applying targeted irrigation or a light nitrogen application if soil tests indicate depletion, to help stimulate vegetative growth.

Recent activity on the field:
• Satellite NDMI observation window (July 5 - July 8, 2026)
Observations:
• Vegetation moisture (NDMI) is holding steady at 0.211. This indicates that while the crop canopy is not in severe drought, it is experiencing mild moisture limitations that could slow down optimal growth if left unaddressed.
• Your crop's water levels have remained completely stable over the last few days, though they are slightly lower than ideal. That means your plants are holding onto their moisture but could benefit from a close eye on irrigation to prevent stress.
• The moisture levels are stable with no sudden drops, showing decent short-term resilience in the current soil conditions.
• Risk noted: Potential yield reduction if moisture levels continue to stagnate or drop during critical growth phases.
• Risk noted: Increased vulnerability to opportunistic pests that target water-stressed crops.
Status: Under review. No yield or performance figure is reported for this field — where a measurement is not available it is shown as Under review rather than estimated.

Moved the date palms to night irrigation
Shifted the block to night irrigation three weeks ago to cut evaporation losses during the hot months.
Too early to claim a water saving — I only started logging meter readings this month, so treat this as a Baseline. What I can say is the surface stays damp longer into the morning than it did on the midday schedule.
If anyone on this feed has run night irrigation on dates through a full season, I would like to hear whether it held up in peak summer.

Whitefly showed up early in the greenhouse
Found whitefly on the underside of leaves in two of the tomato rows this week, earlier in the season than I usually see it.
I have put out yellow sticky traps and I am checking the same ten plants every other day so I have a consistent count to compare against. Status: Under review — I want a couple more weeks of observations before changing anything.
Holding off on spraying until I know whether it is spreading or staying in those two rows.

Question on salinity in older blocks
The older block nearest the boundary has been slower to green up than the rest, and I suspect salt build-up rather than nutrition.
Soil samples went out last week, results pending. Rather than guess, I am marking this Under review until the lab comes back.
Has anyone here dealt with this by leaching, by changing rootstock, or by accepting a lower-value crop on that block? Interested in what actually worked, not what is supposed to work.
